Social Security LIS if under 150% FPL

For those with incomes under 150% of the federal poverty level (FPL is $798 per month for an individual, $1069 for a couple), an application for a low-income subsidy, also referred to as “extra help,” must be made to the Social Security Administration.

The LIS pays for all or some of many low-income beneficiaries’ Medicare Part D premiums, deductibles, and copayments.
